In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the Worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the most honorable of the Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم), his family, and all his companions.

Recite Surat Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and Al-Nas three times at dawn and sunset for protection.

Dua (Supplications):

The Ruqya Sharia is a collection of Quranic verses and authentic Prophetic Supplications that, with Allah's will and power, serve as a cure for conditions such as black magic, evil touch, and the evil eye.

Muslim scholars have always emphasized relying on Allah and regularly reciting Quranic verses and Prophetic supplications to protect ourselves from various afflictions. These practices help us attain Divine help, cure our distress, and ward off evil. Regular recitation of Adhkaar (supplications) is an effective way to combat the effects of witchcraft, the evil eye, and jinn.

Importance of Obligatory Duties:

Dua (supplications) are more likely to be accepted when one performs obligatory duties like the five daily prayers, fasting in Ramadan, and observing hijab. Voluntary acts cannot replace these obligatory duties. Understanding the meaning of the supplications enhances their impact, as prayers from the heart are more likely to be accepted.

Dua for Protection:

Aa’uuzu biwajhil laahil a’ziimil lazii laisa shai-un aa’zama minhu wa bikalimaatil lahittaammaatil laatii laa yujaawizu hunna barrunw walaa faajirunw wa bi asmaaillaahil husna kullihaa. Maa a’limtu munhaa wamaa lam aa’lam min sharrii maa khalaqa wa bara-a wa zara-a.

Translation: I seek refuge in Allah, the most Greatest. There is nothing equal to His Greatness. And I seek refuge in His complete and powerful Words, which cannot be surpassed by any good or bad person, and (I seek refuge in) all the Names of Allah which I know and which I do not know, from the evil of all those things which He created, and created them errorless and scattered them all over.

Virtues:  Reciting this dua once in the morning will protect you from magic. Hadhrat Ka’ab Ahbar (RA) mentioned that if he had not recited this dua, the Jews would have turned him into a donkey.

A'udhu bi wajhi Allahil-karim wa bi kalimatillahit-tammati allati la yujawizuhunna barrun wa la fajir min sharri ma yanzilu minas-sama'i wa min sharri ma ya'ruju fiha wa sharri ma zara'a fil-ardi wa sharri ma yakhruju minha wa min fitanil-layli wannahaari wa min tawaariqal-layli wannahaari ila tariqan yatruqu bi khairin ya Rahman.

Translation: I seek refuge in Allah’s grace and His complete and powerful Words, which cannot be surpassed by any good or bad person, from the evil that descends from the heavens and from the evil that ascends to them, and from the evil of all things scattered in the world, and from the evil of all things that come out of the earth. I also seek refuge in Allah from the trials of day and night, and from those who emerge in the day and night, except those who come with goodness. O Most Merciful.

Virtues: The jinn that came to trouble the Blessed Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) fell to the ground as he recited this dua.

To be recited three times in the morning:

Asbah'naa wa asbah'al mulku lillaahi wal hamdu kulluhu lillaahi. Aa'uu’zu billaahil-ladhi yumsikus samaa'i an taqaa'a 'ala al-ardhi illaa bi-iznihi min sharri maa khalaqa wa zara'a wa min sharri ash-shaytaani wa shirkih.

Translation: We begin our morning with Allah, and all of His Kingdom begins its morning with Him. All praise is due to Allah. I seek refuge in the One Who holds the heavens from falling on the earth except by His permission, from the evil of His creations which are scattered everywhere, and from the evil of Satan and his partnership (with Allah).

To be recited three times in the evening, specifically at Maghrib time.

Amsaynaa wa amsal mulku lillaahi walhamdu kulluhuu lillaahi. A'udhu billaahil lazii yumsikus-samaa-a an taqa'a'alal-ardi illaa bi-iznihi. Min sharri maa khalaqa wa zara-a, wa min sharri shaitaanihi wa shirkih.

Translation: We begin our evening for Allah, and all His Kingdom begins their evening for Him. All praises are due to Allah. I seek refuge in the One who holds the heaven from falling on the earth except with His permission, from the evil of His creations which are scattered everywhere, and I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of Satan and his making of partners (with Allah).

Virtues: The Blessed Prophet (PBUH) informed Hadhrat Amr bin Aas (r.a) that if you recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening, you will be protected from the evil of Satan, fortune-tellers, and magicians.

A'udhu bi kalimaatillahi at-taammati min sharri ma khalaq.

Translation: I seek refuge in Allaah through His complete and powerful Words from the evil of all creatures.

Virtue: Whoever recites this dua three times in the evening will be protected from poisonous creatures, even if bitten by them.

A’udhu bi kalimaatillahi at-taammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haammah wa min kulli ‘aynin laammah.

Translation: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and poisonous reptile, and from every envious evil eye.

Virtue: The Prophet (PBUH) used to recite this dua to protect Al-Hassan (r.a) and Al-Hussayn (r.a.). He would say "U'eedhukumaa bi kalimaatillaah (I seek protection for you two with the words of Allah)." However, if one seeks protection for oneself, they should say "A'oodhu (I seek refuge)." Recite this dua three times in the morning and three times in the evening.

Aūdhu Bikalimātil-Lāhit-Tāmmāti Min Ghađabihi Wa Iqābihi Wa Sharri `Ibādihi Wa Min Hamazātish-Shayāţīni Wa 'An Yăĥđurūn.

Translation: I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and punishment, and from the evil of His servants, and from the mischief and the plots of devils.

Wa inna alladhina kafaru layuzliqunaka bi-absarihim lamma sami'u al-dhikra wa yaquluna innahu lamajnun.

Wa ma huwa illa dhikrun lil-'alamin.

Translation: And indeed, those who disbelieve almost make you stumble with their intense looks of hatred when they hear the Reminder (the Qur’an). They say, 'Indeed, he (Muhammad) is a madman!' But it is nothing but a reminder to all the worlds (mankind, jinns, and everything that exists).

Virtues: Recite three times for evil eye.

Dua for Insomnia

Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he once suffered from insomnia. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Shall I teach you some words that will help you sleep when you say them? Say the following:"

Allahumma Rabbas Samawatis-Sab’i, wa ma adhal-lat, wa Rabbal-aradina, wa ma aqal-lat, wa Rabbash-Shayateena, wa ma adhal-lat. Kun li jaran min sharri khalqika ajma'een ay-yafruta 'alayya ahad-um-minhum, aw ay-yatgha. 'Azza jaruk, wa tabarakasmuk.

Translation: O Allah! Lord of the seven heavens and whatever they cover, Lord of the seven earths and whatever they contain, Creator of the devils and whoever they mislead, be my Protector from the evil of all Your creatures lest some of them may act insolently against me or transgress the bounds. Honoured is he who is in Your protection, and blessed is Your Name.

Dua for Hardship

Hardship and Adversity in Islam

Allah places His servant in hardship either to test their faith and bring them closer to Him by rewarding their patience, or to punish them for their sins.

The Quran says:

  • "Do people think they will be left to say, 'We believe,' and they will not be tested? But We have certainly tested those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful and those who are liars." (Quran 29:2-3)

  • "We will surely test you with some fear, hunger, and loss of wealth, lives, and crops. But give good news to the steadfast." (Quran 2:155)

Hardship and adversity are also decreed by Allah to cleanse our souls from sins we have already committed. Some of the bad things that happen to us are a direct result of our own sins.

  • "Anything bad that happens to you is a consequence of your own deeds, and He overlooks many of your sins." (Quran 42:30)

The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Whoever Allah wishes good for, He inflicts them with hardship." (Bukhari)

How to Get Through Hardship:

Whether hardship is due to one's sins or as a trial, one must draw closer to Allah. To do this, one should:

  1. Establish the five daily prayers.

  2. Constantly ask for forgiveness.

  3. Engage in dhikr (remembrance of Allah).

  4. Make du'a (supplication).

Most importantly, one must be patient and recognise that everything comes from Allah.

  • "… and give glad tidings to the patient. Those who, when afflicted with calamity, say: 'Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.' They are those on whom are the blessings and mercy from their Lord, and it is they who are the guided ones." (Quran 2:155-157)

  • "Who is the One who rescues those who become desperate and call upon Him, relieves adversity, and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is it another god with Allah? Rarely do you take heed." (Quran 27:62)

  • "For truly with hardship comes ease; truly with hardship comes ease." (Quran 94:5-6)

Effective Supplications During Hardship:

Below are several supplications that are very effective in gaining Allah’s mercy during times of hardship.

Laa ilaaha illaa anta subh`aanaka innii kuntu minaz zaalimiin. (Quran 21: 87)

Translation: There is no God but You (O Allah). Glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.

Virtues: Recite this dua as many times as you can every day until Allah grants you relief.

  1. It is narrated by Hadhrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (r.a.) that the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned the best of du’as (supplications). Coincidentally, a Bedouin came and engaged him in a long discussion. Later, the Prophet (PBUH) headed towards his home, and I followed him. Near the house, I feared he might go inside, so I walked heavily. Hearing my footsteps, the Prophet (PBUH) asked, ‘Who is there, Abu Ishaq?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He asked, ‘What is the matter?’ I reminded him of the best du’a he mentioned before the Bedouin interrupted. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Oh yes, it was the du’a that Zun-noon (Prophet Yunus) said when he was inside the fish (the above du’a). Any Muslim who invokes Allah with this du’a, Allah will grant their wish.

  2. It is mentioned in the book of Ibn Abi Hatim that whoever makes du’a (supplication) using the words of Prophet Yunus (A.S.), their du’a will surely be granted.

  3. Hadhrat Abu Saeed (r.a.) said that after this verse, Allah states, “We help believers in this way” (Quran 21:88). Ibn Jareer narrated that the Prophet (PBUH) said the Name of Allah, through which if invoked, He accepts the du’a and grants what is asked for, is in the du’a of Prophet Yunus (A.S.).

  4. Hadhrat Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (r.a.) asked the Prophet (PBUH) whether the du’a of Prophet Yunus (A.S.) was only for him or for all Muslims. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Did you not read in the Qur’an that We gave him relief from grief and We give relief to the believers in a similar way?’ Thus, whoever invokes Allah with these words, Allah has promised to grant relief.

  5. It is narrated in Ibn Abi Hatim that Hadhrat Kathir bin Sa’eed asked Imam Hasan Basari (r.a.), ‘What is the Isme Azam (the Great Name) of Allah through which prayers are granted?’ He replied, ‘Brother, did you not read the statement of Allah,’ and he recited the same two verses, adding, ‘This is the Isme Azam of Allah. If He is invoked with it, He accepts the prayer and grants what is asked for.’ (Tafsir Ibn Kathir 3/395-396)

  6. A Hadith states that whoever recites the above Ayat 40 times during an illness and dies in that state will be rewarded with the status of forty martyrs. If they recover, all their sins will be forgiven.

Tawakkaltu 'alal h'ayyil lazii laa yamuutu. Alh'amdulillaahil lazii lam yattakhiz waladan walam yakullahuu sharikun fil mulki walam yakul lahuu waliyyum minaz zulli wa kabbirhu takbiiraa.

Translation: I believe in and place my hopes in the Ever-Living One who never dies. All praise be to Allah, who neither begets nor has a partner in His dominion. He does not need any helper because He is not weak. Exalt Him with great praise.

Virtue: Hadhrat Abu Huraira (r.a.) narrated that once I went out with the Prophet (PBUH) with my hand in his. The Prophet (PBUH) passed by a person who was utterly hopeless. The Prophet (PBUH) asked the reason for his condition. He replied that poverty and destitution had caused his despair. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘I will tell you some words; if you recite them, your hardship and poverty will diminish.’ (Those words were the above-mentioned du’a.) After some time, when the Prophet (PBUH) revisited that place, he found the man in better condition, which made the Prophet (PBUH) glad. The man said that he had been reciting those words frequently since the Prophet (PBUH) taught him.

Adhkaar

Laa ilaaha illallaahu wa`dahuu laa sharika lahuu lahul mulku walahul h`amdu wa huwa a`laa kulli shai-in qadiir

Translation: There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. His is the sovereignty, and His the praise, and He has power over everything

Virtue: 1) Whoever practise this Zikr (Remembrance) daily after Salaah, all ones sins will be forgiven even if they as numerous as foams of the ocean.
(Muslim 1/418)

2) Reciting hundred times during the day, has the reward of freeing ten slaves, a hundred good deeds are recorded for him and a hundred bad deeds are wiped away and he has gained refuge from the devil that day until evening with Allah and none shall come with anything better except someone who has done more (recited it more than him)

Read the following dua after every namaz:

Ya Allah remove the covering off the hearts and minds of all the jinns inside me show them how they are being manipulated buy the shaytaan and show them if they keep following him how they will burn in the hell fire forever and ever ya Allah bring them out of the darkness into the light (repeat 3 times) Ya Allah remove all the blackness from their hearts and fill it with the noor of imaan Allahu noorus samawati wal ard (3 times) Ya Allah show them who you are your power and love show them the love of the holy prophet s.a.w ya allah make them all muslim destroy all the magic and knots and cure us. Ameen

Inshallah Allah will show them the straight path and they will leave you alone or help you by Allahs will.
